How to connect Lexidesk to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot

Connect your AI assistant to your Lexidesk account so it can search your calls, chats, leads, and reports for you.

Written by Ivan Tryskyba

Lexidesk has an official connection for AI assistants. It uses the MCP standard (Model Context Protocol, the way AI assistants talk to other apps). After you connect, you can ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot questions about your Lexidesk data in plain English.

For example: "Which leads from last week did not book?" or "Summarize the calls about car accidents this month."

You sign in with your normal Lexidesk email and password. There are no API keys to copy. The assistant sees only the data your own Lexidesk login can see. Plan for about 2 minutes.

What you'll need

  • A Lexidesk account (account owner or team member)

  • One of these AI assistants: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • The Lexidesk connection address, in case your assistant asks for it: https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp

Connect from the official directory (ChatGPT and Claude)

Lexidesk is an approved connector in the Claude directory, and the ChatGPT plugin directory listing is on its way. This is the fastest way to connect. You do not need the connection address.

Claude

The Lexidesk page in the Claude directory: claude.ai/directory/lexidesk

  1. Open the Lexidesk page in the Claude directory and click Connect. Or, in Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, click Discover, and search for Lexidesk.

  2. A browser window opens with the Lexidesk login. Sign in with your Lexidesk email and password.

  3. Click Approve. Claude is now connected to your Lexidesk account.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Plugins.

  2. Search for Lexidesk in the directory and click Add. If Lexidesk is not in the directory yet, use the ChatGPT steps in the next section.

  3. A browser window opens with the Lexidesk login. Sign in with your Lexidesk email and password.

  4. Click Approve. ChatGPT is now connected to your Lexidesk account.

Note: On a Team, Business, or Enterprise plan, an admin of your workspace may need to allow Lexidesk once before it shows up for everyone. Ask your admin to open the same directory page and allow it.

If Lexidesk is not in your directory yet

You can connect Lexidesk by hand with the connection address https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp. This works in ChatGPT and Claude before Lexidesk shows up in their directories, and it is the only way for Gemini and Microsoft Copilot Studio.

Claude (custom connector)

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Paste https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp as the address. Name it Lexidesk.

  4. Follow the prompts on the screen. A browser window opens with the Lexidesk login. Sign in and click Approve.

Then

And Finally

ChatGPT (add an MCP server)

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Plugins.

  2. Click Add, then Add MCP server.

  3. Select Streamable HTTP as the connection type.

  4. Paste https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp as the address. Name it Lexidesk.

  5. Save. A browser window opens with the Lexidesk login. Sign in and click Approve.

Then

And finally

Gemini

Availability: Google currently supports custom apps for users aged 18 or older in the US, with a personal Google Account. The feature is English-only, needs Keep

Activity turned on, and is not available for work or school accounts.

  1. Open Gemini on your computer.

  2. Go to SettingsConnected Apps. If necessary, open Personal IntelligenceConnected Apps.

  3. Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app or use the URL field shown.

  4. Enter https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp.

  5. Click Next, then follow the prompts to sign in to Lexidesk and click Approve.

  6. Start a chat, type @, and select the connected Lexidesk app.

Try: "Use Lexidesk to summarize my firm's latest 10 conversations."

Setup happens in the web app. Once connected, the app is also available in Gemini on mobile. See Google's setup instructions for custom apps.

Microsoft Copilot Studio

You need access to Copilot Studio and an agent you can edit.

  1. Open your agent in Copilot Studio.

  2. Go to ToolsAdd a toolNew toolModel Context Protocol.

  3. Enter these server details:

    • Name: Lexidesk

    • Description: Access your law firm's Lexidesk conversations, clients, and intake analytics.

    • Server URL: https://api.lexidesk.ai/mcp

  4. Select OAuth 2.0 as the authentication method.

  5. Choose Dynamic discovery.

  6. Select Create, then Next.

  7. Select Create a new connection, complete the Lexidesk sign-in and click Approve, then select Add to agent.

  8. Test the connection by asking: "Use Lexidesk to summarize my firm's latest 10 conversations."

Copilot Studio supports Streamable HTTP, the connection type Lexidesk uses. See Microsoft's setup instructions for MCP servers.

What you can ask after you connect

Your assistant can now:

  • Search and read your conversations: phone calls, website chats, emails, texts, and WhatsApp threads, with transcripts and summaries

  • Find leads and clients, and read the full history of one person before a consult

  • Report your intake numbers: how many inquiries, from which channel, how many qualified, how many booked

  • Show which marketing channel brought the leads that booked/signed

  • List retainer agreements and whether each one is signed and paid

  • Read your outbound call campaigns and their results

  • Read your AI's settings and knowledge base

Three actions change data: update the knowledge base, send a feature request to Lexidesk, and send usage feedback to Lexidesk. Before each of these, your assistant shows you the change and asks for your approval. Everything else is read-only.

How to disconnect

You can disconnect at any time in the app where you added Lexidesk. In Claude, open SettingsConnectors and remove Lexidesk. In ChatGPT, open SettingsPlugins and remove Lexidesk. In Gemini, open SettingsConnected Apps and remove the Lexidesk custom app. In Copilot Studio, remove the Lexidesk tool from your agent.

After you disconnect, the assistant has no access to your Lexidesk data.

Troubleshooting

The assistant says a Lexidesk tool is unknown

Your assistant kept an old copy of the Lexidesk tool list. Start a new chat, which loads the current list. If that does not help, remove the Lexidesk connection and add it again.

The browser shows "Connection request is not valid"

The connection attempt expired or was started twice. Close the browser window and start the connection again from your AI assistant.

The assistant stops with a rate limit message

Lexidesk accepts 60 requests per minute for each user. Wait one minute and ask again.

Gemini does not show Connected Apps or Custom apps

Google limits custom apps to personal Google Accounts of users aged 18 or older in the US, in English, with Keep Activity turned on. Work and school accounts do not have this feature yet. Use ChatGPT or Claude with the same Lexidesk login instead.

ChatGPT does not show Add MCP server

On a Business or Enterprise plan, a workspace admin controls who can add MCP servers. Ask your admin to allow it, or to add Lexidesk from the plugin directory for the whole workspace.

FAQs

Does the AI assistant see everything in my Lexidesk account?

The assistant sees the same data as your own Lexidesk login. Team members see the firm's conversations and clients, but not billing data.

Does Lexidesk store my chats with the AI assistant?

No, Lexidesk does not receive your chat with the assistant. Lexidesk keeps a log of the requests the assistant sends to Lexidesk for 30 days, for support and security. The AI assistant provider (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Microsoft) handles your chat under its own terms. See the Lexidesk privacy policy for the details.

Can the assistant change my data?

Only three actions change data: a knowledge base update, a feature request, and usage feedback. Your assistant asks for your approval before each one. Everything else is read-only.

Can more than one person at my firm connect?

Yes, each person with a Lexidesk account can connect their own assistant. Each connection uses that person's own Lexidesk login, so everyone sees what their own account allows.

Can I connect more than one assistant?

Yes, you can connect ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot at the same time with the same Lexidesk login. Each connection is separate, and you can disconnect any one of them without affecting the others.

Still stuck?

If the connection does not work after these steps, email [email protected] with your firm name, the name of the AI assistant you use, and a screenshot of the screen where it stops.
